Things to Check During Installation

  1. Before installing ProBuilt DIY Aluminum Railings, please ensure areas to be drilled are free from utilities, services and hazards. Building codes may vary. Always check your local building code to ensure that all code requirements have been met before installing your railing system.
  2. When installing on weather tight decking materials (Duradek, etc.) remember to use a neutral cure silicone (low solvent) in the screw holes of the posts. This will prevent water from penetrating under the deck materials.
  3. Drilling a 3/16” hole in the bottom rail to allow water to escape. If using pickets this will need to be done after installing the picket gasket.
  4. Ensure the picket gasket is installed. If pickets are rattling and moving freely you have most likely forgotten to insert the picket gasket in the top & bottom rail.
  5. Double check to ensure the screws are installed in the appropriate places. (as per ProBuilt Installation instructions) especially at the bottom rail connections.
  6. Please ensure that you use an ACQ compatible fastener when mounting to pressure treated wood.
  7. To cover up the screw heads, remember to include Base Plate Covers as a finishing detail to the deck. (available for 2" posts and 2-1/2" posts).
