Coating ~ The Critical Process!
ProBuilt railings uses the latest technology in aluminum alloys and exterior metal
coatings available. Paint doesn't adhere well to aluminum without proper surface
preparation. Therefore the pretreatment of the aluminum and paint application processes
are critical. If any of these processes fail, the paint coating will peel, chip,
or flake. We electrostatically apply all of our paint finishes at our facility.
AAMA 2604 Weathering Specifications
Our Q-Base quality systems mandates daily testing be carried out to ensure the adherence
and cure of the coating. Our powder coat finishes exceed the AAMA 2604 Weathering
Specification. There are many different types of coatings on the market today and
many less expensive powder coatings do not meet this minimum paint specification.
An Important Note About Post Strength
Recent testing indicates that posts with welded base plates fail at loads an average
of 35% lower than identical posts with mechanical base plate connections. The strength
of welded post base connections can be deceiving and their use is generally not
recommended. ProBuilt aluminum railings utilize a mechanical connection for this
critical area, the post/base plate connection. These test results correspond with
data published by the CSA and ANSI certification bodies.
The ProBuilt aluminum railing system is engineered to meet U.S. and Canadian
building code requirements.
